Class Descriptions
What to Expect in a Class
To take a class in yoga at The YogaScape is to experience a centering, a balancing, and to leave with a sense of renewal. The student can expect not only to be welcomed and noticed, but they will be guided and embraced for where they are. Classes exist for all levels of experience, as well as all types of bodies, needs, wants, or condition. Students will be instructed and exposed to the many healing applications yoga offers, including; increased physical stamina, strength, flexibility and stress-reduction, they will see their balance, concentration, and endurance improve, as well as find their mental and emotional state more even, steady, and joyful. There are age-specific classes, condition specific, experience specific, along side the rigorous, gentle, and pre-natal class. During most classes either a Senior Student or additional Teacher serves to demonstrate the poses and correct alignment throughout the class. Many students also enjoy having an Instructor guide them through hands-on adjustments known as an “In-class Private Session”. All classes incorporate Dharma (philosophical focus), Asana (physical practice) and time to Rest (savasana). The YogaScape is set up to accommodate students with all necessary props for each class. You will find yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, straps, chairs, benches, and blankets available for your use. All you need to take a class is comfortable clothing and an open heart and mind!
Lastly you can expect to find a sacred and safe space, a temple of sorts, that awaits your arrival. TheYogaScape is a healing center that is judgment free.
STUDIO GUIDELINES & POLICIES
Students must arrive 10 minutes early. Students are not permitted to enter class after the start time, as it is disruptive to the focus necessary for practice. Please turn off all cell phone ringers. Be mindful with your space to accommodate those around you. Enjoy conversation and each other outside of the main studio. Please use the time before class to quiet down, stretch, meditate and become attuned to your yogic frame of mind. Please avoid wearing heavy perfumes or oils. Fitted yet moderate clean clothing is best. Socks must be removed when practicing asana (postures). Please keep an open mind to the satsang (spiritual discussion) that occurs, and follow as best you can the yamas and niyamas in respect to yourself and your fellow practitioners. Try not to eat a meal too close to your practice as a full and heavy stomach will distract you from your practice and limit the posture’s effectiveness. Do not attend class after the consumption of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs. Do not chew gum in class as it could present a choking hazard and impedes proper pranayma (breathing). If you are menstruating long-held inversions should be avoided. Ask your teacher about modifications to those asanas. Inform your teacher of any recent injury or chronic condition. For joint and muscle safety we practice in a warmed room. All class packages have a strict expiry, and classes cannot be extended after time has passed retroactively. Because space is limited pre-registration is highly recommended. Pre-registered classes that are not attended are not refunded as space is limited. Gift certificates expire 6-months from purchase date.
MAY YOU BE FILLED WITH JOY, FREEDOM, HEALTH, WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING, PEACE AND LOVE.
NAMASTE.
